Really wanting to dive into a Hannah Howell story since she’s probably the only popular historical romance author I haven’t tired, I felt like The Scotsman Who Swept Me Away would be a great introduction to her writing and how she structures her characters. Now that I’ve finished all that I want to read of this story I have to say that I’m disappointed by what I was given. From the very beginning we’re introduced to Geordie and his incessant desire to see the ocean – great desire – but the constant mention of him of wanting to see the sea was borderline fanatical. His character came off as if Howell hastily put his character together and constructed a loosely structured story around him.
