Power by Kenya Wright

Power by Kenya Wright

I had to check Goodreads to make sure that Power by Kenya Wright is the first ever I’d read of her writing, but no it wasn’t. I’ve read quite a few stories by her and I have to say, my reviews weren’t as favorable it was for Power. So many things went on within this story that I’m going to try my best to notate them all here in this review. The main characters, Mary Jane and Noah, were somewhat enjoyable to read about. I will admit that after a while I sort of got bored with reading about them and became more fascinated with what was going on around them. Additionally, the supporting characters within Power started to overshadow the main couple simply because of their unhinged actions and thought processes. In thinking further about Power I’m having a hard pinpointing a point that I want to start in […]

Book Review | Catching Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Book Review | Catching Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Because it had been a minute since I’d read an Aurora Rose Reynolds story, when I saw that she had released a new story and series I thought it was a good time to see what stories she was telling now-a-days. What I wasn’t expecting was for Catching Him By Aurora Rose Reynolds to follow the same pacing and story momentum that I had somewhat gotten used to from her previous stories. I didn’t read the synopsis for Catching Him because I wanted to take the story at face value and I didn’t want to formulate any ideas or assumptions about the story before I give it a chance. In doing so I was able to have a clean slate so to speak when I first began reading the book, but I will admit that the chapter titles somewhat threw me off until I continued reading and was able to […]

Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh

Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh

I have been waiting for Clay’s story ever since we met him in Slave to Sensation. Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh was an amazing look into Clay’s past and the intricate details that made him one of the most dangerous Changelings in Nalini Singh’s dynamic and unique Psy-Changeling world. Gaining a well-rounded view of the stories I’d already read within the Psy-Changeling series is a beautiful thing. My ratings might change for what appears is the worse but I see it as something that shows growth. In rating Mine to Possess now as a 4 star instead the 5 star that it was, I feel that I’ve given the story a better look and experienced all that the story had to offer instead of focusing purely on the romance as I felt I did the first time around. I felt that even though Clay and Talin’s story progressed the Psy-Changeling series […]

The Scotsman Who Swept Me Away by Hannah Howell

The Scotsman Who Swept Me Away by Hannah Howell

Really wanting to dive into a Hannah Howell story since she’s probably the only popular historical romance author I haven’t tired, I felt like The Scotsman Who Swept Me Away would be a great introduction to her writing and how she structures her characters. Now that I’ve finished all that I want to read of this story I have to say that I’m disappointed by what I was given. From the very beginning we’re introduced to Geordie and his incessant desire to see the ocean – great desire – but the constant mention of him of wanting to see the sea was borderline fanatical. His character came off as if Howell hastily put his character together and constructed a loosely structured story around him. There wasn’t anything of sustenance I could grab onto when it came to his character or the plot. I did love the family dynamic that was […]

Before I delve into my review of How To Love A Duke In Ten Days by Kerrigan Byrne I want to let readers know about the trigger warning within its story. (There is a rape scene within this story so beware). Maybe you’ve already read the book and know this but if you’re reading this review I wouldn’t feel right unless I disclosed this information to you since I was having trouble getting through this particular portion of the story. Now that I’ve disclosed that information to you all I now feel that I can jump into the review … From the start of this story to its last page I found myself really enjoying the story of How To Love A Duke In Ten Days. There were moments where I felt there was too much dialogue and not enough action, especially past the halfway mark, but as always with […]
