Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh

Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh

I was so close on giving up on Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh, so close. The beginning, I felt, started off so incredibly slow, but it wasn’t until I closed the pages to Bonds of Justice that I realized I had become spoiled with the upbeat beginnings that encompassed Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series. For me the changelings always brought the excitement, but the story of Bonds of Justice didn’t focus on the Changelings for once, but on the human and Psy. Echo of Silence (short story within Wild Embrace) touched on this complicated relationship type, but it of course didn’t go into as much depth as Bonds of Justice did since it was a novella. But before Bonds of Justice we were introduced to the E-Psy, F-Psy, M-Psy, and Tk-Psy but throughout those stories the J-Psy were mentioned as either a cautionary tale or in comparison to who has it worse amongst the Psy. So […]

Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh

Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh

I was hoping for Kaleb’s story but the actual details of what his story could’ve entailed never would formulate in my mind. Thank goodness I’m not a writer because I have a feeling that if I would’ve wrote Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh it would’ve went something like this: “Kaleb was a bad mama jamma and since no one wanted to fight him because he was too powerful it took a special someone who had already captured his heart to come and regulate his badassness so that he could be welcomed back into society and not try to kill everyone. The End.” But in all seriousness, I never would’ve imagined Heart of Obsidian turning out the way it did on top of what it added to the overall Psy-Changeling series. With all of that said I can’t say that I was completely blown away or pleased with the execution of Kaleb’s story. Knowing from […]

Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh

Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh

I have been waiting for Clay’s story ever since we met him in Slave to Sensation. Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh was an amazing look into Clay’s past and the intricate details that made him one of the most dangerous Changelings in Nalini Singh’s dynamic and unique Psy-Changeling world. Gaining a well-rounded view of the stories I’d already read within the Psy-Changeling series is a beautiful thing. My ratings might change for what appears is the worse but I see it as something that shows growth. In rating Mine to Possess now as a 4 star instead the 5 star that it was, I feel that I’ve given the story a better look and experienced all that the story had to offer instead of focusing purely on the romance as I felt I did the first time around. I felt that even though Clay and Talin’s story progressed the Psy-Changeling series […]

Hostage to Pleasure by Nalini Singh

Hostage to Pleasure by Nalini Singh

I must have seriously overlooked Hostage to Pleasure by Nalini Singh when I read it the first time because in reading it this time I am in love with its story. My symptoms consist of the heart eyes, heart palpitations, and sweaty palms. Hostage to Pleasure was seriously something special to behold. Dorian’s story has been, in my opinion, one of the storylines that the Psy-Changeling series has been building up to – the other being Hawke and Sienna’s story. So just imagine with all of the build up of 4 books with the novellas in-between how excited I was to get back into this series and read Dorian’s story with fresh eyes and fresh expectations. Now that I’m thinking about it, I’ve been looking forward to Ashaya’s story as well with just as much anticipation. From the very start – I’m not just talking about the beginning of Hostage […]

Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh

Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh

I found the first portion, the first 25%, of Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh really hard to get into. I can’t really say if it was Mercy or Riley’s character that made it so dang hard to get into this story, but it could very well have been a combination of both. Even though I did end up enjoying Branded by Fire it was a long and tumultuous road getting there. Before I read Branded by Fire, Mercy and Riley were characters I neither loved nor hated and in previous stories they just weren’t characters I paid much attention to. Yeah, we learned a little more about Riley’s motivations and past in Caressed by Ice but not so much that I clamored to read more about him. The same can be said about Mercy’s character in Hostage to Pleasure. So was it my lukewarm feelings towards both Mercy and […]
